High-volume samplers are the basic instruments used to monitor Ambient Air Quality. They are in widespread use all over the world to measure air pollution in industrial areas, urban areas, shop floors, near monuments, and other sensitive areas. In these samplers, airborne suspended particulate matter (APM) is measured by passing air at a high flow rate through a high-efficiency filter paper that retains the particles. An attachment has been provided for simultaneous sampling of gaseous pollutants.
It has a high-speed blower with a Brushless motor which has replaced the conventional high-speed blower where carbon brushes were required to be replaced at regular intervals. There is no need to keep a track of wear off of carbon brushes. The noise level has also been reduced. PVC tubing has been replaced by more reliable silicone tubing. A lighting facility has also been added to facilitate monitoring at night. It is lighter, more compact, as usual can be carried in a car dickey and thus ideal for field use.
